1. How much does it cost to sign up my kid(s) for basketball?
Registration is $100 for first child, with each additional child being $85. This price includes all uniforms.
2. When does the 2020 season start?
The first practice for each team will take place the week of January 6, 2020. The first game (games always on Saturdays) will take place January 25, 2020.
Each team will have 10 practices, which are scheduled on the same day (M,T,W,Th, or F) of the week at the same time (6-7pm, 7-8pm, or 8-9 pm) each week.
Each team will have 8 games (always on Saturdays), and the last game day will be Saturday, March 14, 2020.
3. Are you offering Cheer this year?
Unfortunately we are not having a cheer program for the 2019-2020 season. We hope to offer a cheer program in future seasons, and if you know of any people interested in being a Reach Sports Cheer Coach/Volunteer, or if you have any questions/concerns regarding Reach's cheer program, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
4. How much of a time commitment will this be for my family?
Practices and games last for one hour each, meaning a two-hour per week commitment once games begin. With busy family schedules, this set-up is ideal and we continue to hear that it works great for volunteers and extended family as well.
5. In other sports leagues, my child did not get to play as much as other children. How is Reach Sports different in that regard?
Coaches are given parameters for substituting players in and out of the game. The substitution system is designed to allow every child to be in the starting lineup, requires no child to sit out back-to-back segments and allows every child to play at least half of every game.
6. What should my child wear to practice?
Each child should come equipped with sporting shoes (tennis, running or basketball shoes for example), shorts or sweatpants and a t-shirt or jersey. Water or a sports drink is also encouraged for hydration.
7. Where are the games played?
There are two gyms on the Davisville Church campus. The Activity Center Gym is located in the back of the parking lot and the Church Gym is located on the bottom floor of the church building. Look for lawn signs and volunteers if you have any questions. Game Day gym schedules are typically posted in January.
5th and 6th grade boys will have their games at Christ's Home Community Center.
8. Do I have to be a member of Davisville Church?
No. Reach Sports is open to the entire community and anyone can join so long as they are in K5-6th grade.
9. Do I have to volunteer?
No. Volunteering is encouraged but is not a requirement. Part of the Reach Sports experience is the great volunteers who make every season so enjoyable.
10. Can I request that my child be put on a specific team?
We try to honor all requests for children K5-2nd grade. For children 3rd-6th grade, it is difficult to honor requests because of the increased competitiveness and our commitment to create balanced teams that are fair for everyone.
11. How are the teams created?
After Evaluation Week, teams are created by grade level, gender and overall score. We strive to make teams as balanced as possible. And each team is split according to the number of participants in the division.
